PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
